Situated just 50 meters away from the Samburu National Reserve, visitors will get the opportunity to view sights of the many wild animals including the famous big five within the camp and at the comfort of their own tents.
NASHIPA ECO CAMP
Superb wildlife viewing from the camp and its rooms are combined with bush drives, sundowners, bush breakfasts by the Ewaso Nyiro River, visits to the cultural villages / bomas (‘Manyattas’) located just 150 meters away from the camp, game walks by our experienced tour guides ARE also an experience of a lifetime. Visitors can walk accompanied to the nearest primary and nursery school to learn ABOUT the education systems. Visit a typical Samburu Cultural Boma gives away to learn about traditional hunting techniques, fire making and enjoy local music and dancing. Or we can help you plan a traditional wedding.
Children are welcome! We are able to provide meals at different times to suit children and bedtimes and offer babysitting for those who wish to stay in the communal areas after their children have gone to bed.
We do ask you to take responsibility for the safety of your children at all times. The camp environment may be hazardous for small mobile children unless they are fully minded by an adult as a result of the lack of fences at the edge of some communal areas.
Those interested in community projects can spend time with local women to learn about beading techniques, or visit a local school or health clinic built with funds from an individual donor. These encounters are dignified and respectful, with none of the hustle and bustle of many community visits in other parts of Kenya. As for those needing souvenirs for their families back at home, the camp has a well-equipped curio shop with various traditional Samburu artifacts, prices are negotiable while free samples can be provided. Commissions can be provided either through reduced rates, Samburu jewelry or free meals upon negotiations with the visitors.
